It has a bushed eye at one end, a thread at the other and has no spring seat.

Its a very high number for eg manta rear is 1566 and I remember fitting a lot of monroe shocks years ago but that number seems odd to me. Is it 100% correct (the number that is)

I must have found the same on line catalogue!

Marina ones were 3258, maybe they renumbered?

R3270 is printed on the box and stamped on the tube...

The cross reference section of my 1988 Unipart catalogue goes straight from 3269 to 3271.
3269 is for Alfasud and 3271 is for Simca 1000,so they don't appear to be grouped together by manufacturer.
Sorry...
James

Might be able to identify it by measuring dimensions?

Alun are the 3270's stud for the top or bottom? (fatter part being top) Marinas are eyelet top and stud bottom and the fiat type you posted the link to are opposite. May help narrow it down a bit :)

Studs are on the thicker part.

Vauxhall Victor eh? No wonder they are superseded! I wonder if they then also fit the VX 2200 range as Ted's brother had a GLS version of that...

Thanks Raf, do you have an old catalogue or something?

Thought I'd put a question mark at the end of that statement! I'd emailed Dom the mechanic and that was the response, but it doesn't work in reverse when double checking what he said on the Monroe site just now, mind you maybe they've changed their number?

Edit: Wondered what google would come up with, and lo and behold on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-VICT ... 1481591835, do they look like yours?

Excellent, I've been searching ebay on and off (under the part number) for a while now and that never came up!

Meanwhile, I've ascertained that the same part is common to some Victors and some VX 4/90 models.

Thanks for all inputs.

Alun
