I was just surfing around this interweb thing, when I spotted that 'Wins International' is up for sale.
Anybody got a spare 350 - 400 grand?

Imagine the shareholder meetings with 1000 people.. Only 1/4 of them would make it though, the rest of us would be at the roadside with our hazards on :P

Maybe the business has had its day. If the new old stock genuine parts are wearing thin youre left with new repro stock and you can make an ebay shop for that. If it was "really" worth it they wouldnt be selling. Just my pessimistic opinion :o

I am no businessman (I amble through life, regularly tripping over myself as I go) but for the value of the business without stock to be £300k means the annual turnover must be huge. Guess a proper look at the books would reveal all.
Sadly I doubt it will get picked up at that sort of figure, a real shame as Geoff is fairly local and one of the few retailers who keeps dolly stuff. Fingers crossed somebody will take it on though.

Geoff has been trading for thirty years.
Maybe he is simply thinking of retiring? That is the way I read his website's message.

Used to go to Wins when he moved from the first site in Smallfield to Hobbs Ind Est, Lingfield where you could see what was waiting to be broken up in a parking bay opposite and Geoff would be wielding the hammer on a rotten 2000 or Dolly in the workshop. Back then it wasn't as clean and smart as the current location but had a great charm. Geoff was always helpful and remembered you. Sadly one day we sold him my wife's 1978 1300 Dolly for vivisection as it was never going to pass another MOT with holed floor pan and sills on the way out, that was the mid 1990s - now a days it would probably be saved.

That is what I heard, and I have no reason to doubt that. Apparently he's had offers that would require him to stay on and run the business for a few years after it's been sold, but that sort of defeats the object of selling it in the first place.....

Next time I'm at Moss's I'll see if they are interested.

They probably already know though....

Shame as its a great outfit and one we can do with keeping.
