The replacement driveshaft was ready to pick up so I got it on my way home from work. The intermediate bearing was the correct width (about 12mm) and the job was done in just over an hour without a single hitch. I've not done a road test just yet because by the time I'd put all my tools away and got cleaned up my tea was ready and I'm still eating it as I'm typing this post up.

Matt & Steve, just for your benefit here's the box the driveshaft came in and it doesn't appear to be Shaftec.

This is the last major job needed on this car. I've got to go to Luton tomorrow so this has been sorted just in time.

I've just covered nearly 400 trouble-free miles and the clicking is gone so that problem is definitely fixed. If the nearside outer CV joint goes, I'll be fitting a brand new driveshaft from the same motor factor unless the local dealer can quote me a reasonable price.

It would still be easier and cheaper to just replace the cv joint :wink:
For some reason you dont get the same problems as complete shafts, i dont know why :?:

It has had the CV joint replaced at some point. I decided to replace the entire driveshaft because it was easier than replacing just the joint (once I had the right part).

Erm, it is not quite over yet. I can still hear a bit of clicking (a LOT less than before) so the nearside outer CV joint is beginning to go. As with the offside, I'll be replacing the entire driveshaft and it should be less troublesome and should cost less as it is shorter. I can live with it for now.

It is worth a try re packing it with some new cv grease :wink:
No need for a strip down, just jack up and take wheel off :D
But dont use a zip tie for the boot, use a metal one that can be crimped with a pair of pincers.
No need for the special tool they do the same job.

The aircon didn't blow ice cold all the time when it was on and I could hear the sound of the auxiliary drivebelt slipping so I bought a replacement from a local motor factor for £12. I should've done this at the last service but the aircon wasn't working so I didn't know that the belt would slip when the compressor was running. Anyway it has done the trick. Once my bank balance has recovered a bit (I bought a caravan recently) I'll be looking at getting a new nearside driveshaft.

I was cleaning the car yesterday (I normally just take it through the local IMO car wash) when I noticed that there was some damage to a couple of the runners on the rear wiper blade.

Since it hadn't been replaced since before I bought the car and with the MoT due in January I decided to fit a replacement which only cost me a tenner from my local motor factor.

The annual service was due so I went over to my local dealer and bought engine oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and cabin filters (there are 2 of them). The total cost was just shy of £102 which wasn't bad for genuine Citroen parts. This should help with emissions come MoT time which is due on the 24th.
