The point to not overlook is that this was a humorous post that made me laugh until it was gatecrashed by party poopers and became a downer instead, which to be honest Steve is quite disappointing.
On the contrary, the point not to be overlooked is that some people find humour in animal cruelty, whilst others do not. Simple as that.
Thankyou.

Looking around for rat/mouse poison as a preventative measure in my new lock-up and came across this review on Screwfix:

" I tried this product as a humane way to rid myself of a rat in the garage, as my wife threatened to put one of her roast dinners in there. I couldn't bear the thought of another living creature having to suffer like we do every Sunday. "
I used to live in an HQ Officers' Mess and was woken one night at around 2AM by a scratting rustling noise. Light on, noise stopped. Damn... Grrr...

Light off, can't get to sleep as now listening for the noise.

Scratting rustling noise starts again. Get up quietly leaving light off (just enough light coming through curtains to avoid tripping over furniture). Identify noise as coming from an empty milk carton in the bin.

Light on, noise of course stops. Observe tip of mouse tail sticking out of carton. Carton removed delicately from bin and placed on floor.

At this stage I can reveal that I recommend an empty Crozes-Hermitage 2004 bottle, though a wad of tissue in the opening is advisable to avoid the amateurish look caused by drops of wine running along your arm.

Don't think the mouse knew too much about it; I slept OK afterwards though.
