Cant help thinking somethings amiss with the story. The person "trading in" must realise the Standard would be worth more than the discount he gets surely?. If you went in with cash for a new transit, Im pretty sure they would drop more than a grand from list price. Stolen cars with an ID would be great for this I suppose...

Have you heard the one about the Standard 10 brought in by its owner under the scrappage scheme for a new Ford Transit van? The blame was being laid at Ford's door and a big bruhaha created over it, and yet my first thought is why blame Ford when it was the original owner that was the cause? If it was me I'd have sold the Standard 10, bought the cheapest shite but driveable euro box off eBay for £200 and traded that in... This is entirely the fault of the owner. Ford put together the scheme but ultimately it's the owner who decided to trade it in against a Trannie van.

What I don't understand (or have missed) is why Ford cannot just sell the standard10. It seems to be their own incentive scheme, with no real government/DVLA interference? Surely they can do what they wish with the trade-ins??

Ford can do whatever they want with the trade ins. However there T's and C's expressly say that cars traded in will be permanently removed from our roads. They can't therefore go back on that without serious loss of face. Where does it then stop? The Vauxhall Corsa Appreciation Society might get up in arms over an early Corsa from 1993 or perhaps someone will get all upset because a Renault Kangoo is going to be lost forever. I believe a deal has now been done to 'save' the car, however it will not remain on our roads so perhaps a museum beckons of it may yield some useful spares as a donor vehicle.

I've actually thought about getting one myself, I've seen anything from £500 to £5000 for a mint one, they seem quite underrated?
