All the usual suspect seem similar, but we use Lancaster for our 2 because they don't have a problem with them being our only cars (none of this "must have a modern" rubbish). They're on separate policies at the moment (one for me, one for Sian) but I'll have another going on road in a month or so. Not sure if they do multi-car or if it'll mean a separate policy at that point. Even then will be cheaper than insuring one modern for us both to drive!

I used to use RH specalist who were very cheap and provided a good service allowing changes in poilcy and car without charging extra untill last year when they tried to double the cost of my Vectra even though i have never made a claim, they did reduce the cost of the 1500TC by 80pence though! I now have a classic traders policy

Buy a copy of Practical Calssics mag, all the well know companys have an ad. ring around a few to compare prices.

Thanks guys for all the replies: Heritage were the cheapest, then Peter James, Footman James and Lancaster were the dearest and I mean dear.

Regards
Paul.

As the insurance for my Sprint runs out end of this month, thought I'd get an online quote from Heritage. Would have had one apart from the fact I can't get past the bit where they ask if I run a company car which won't let me select "0" in the other cars owned. Will call them tomorrow.

However, just checked out Peter James who has quoted me £130.43 for U/L mileage, UK & Euro breakdown (I consider this essential), and the usual legal expenses, which for a valuation of £5000 (I think my Sprint is worth this). My current policy is with Footman James who, for the next 12 months have quoted £162 02 - and increase of almost £29 on this years current premium of £132.75. They tell me it's down to general inflation. Well, they can sod off as I'm not paying for all the other idiots who can't drive well enough not to have accidents so, until I can speak to Heritage, it looks like Peter James sits well with me.

I ask Peter James for a quote for my track Sprint. I listed all the mods & emailed it to them.

I got a reply today...

Unfortunately, our underwriters have declined to offer a quotation

Cheers Paul.

Looks like it'll be a Saturday morning on the phone. Well, it is free for my landline and it looks as if it's going to pi55 down tomorrow.

Quotes seem to vary hugely so what is one mans best quote is anothers worst. Just make sure you opt for an agreed value or else you'll only get market value should the worst happen. Market value would value a Sprint at about £500 so an agreed value makes a lot of sense.

Don't worry - never do anything other than agreed value.

PETER BEST INSURANCE

http://www.peterbestinsurance.co.uk/

I got a cheaper price over the phone than on the net (£66 a year for my Sprint :D )

My insurance is due, and Footman James beat Peter James - however Peter Best are much cheaper. OK, this is a tentative online quote and it would appear not to have the bells and whistles, but the sad fact is that my car spends most of it's time in the garage, so why pay more?
I'll call them next week.
