I wonder if you gent's could help me .

Having a trawl about the classic car rags I have come across a vehicle im quite tempted by.

Just wondering what the going rate is these days of a Toledo

Now I know mine is not Mot'd or Taxed at the moment but tbh I think once the engine is in I can't see it failing.

The only known body issues are doors probably be repaired but I am being fussy and want replacements.
and a couple of bubbles on wheel arches.
front wings are tip top.
as is the front panel

Interior very nice.

Forgot to mention

2.0TR7 engine (now checked out) fitted with Brand new Lumenition electronic ignition
1850 3 rail overdrive gearbox
1850 front subframe
4 very good Michellen tyres fitted to 41/2j spitfire wheels
brand new clutch, waterpump,coil
custom built radiator
bootlid has some rust underneath but would come with new old stock stanpart bootlid
Polybushed rear suspension
underneath car is rock solid just doors spoil it
It would be just a case of fit engine and twiddle with brakes for mot

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

At least get her back together and MOT'd with a bit of rent on the screen. That would make it much more appealing and enable the new owner to drive her away. Trailering is a hassle and an additional expense unless you are local'ish and all kitted out.

So what has caught your eye then mate?

I'm no expert but you would in effect be selling a project.
The body being good helps obviously but someone would still have a lot of hours to spend on getting the car running. That unknown quantity means it is probably worth £500-£700 maybe.
As a guess......

Then do it. As a non runner that needs trailering away you will be lucky to get a good night out and a curry for it, especially in late January in the depths of recession.

Get in running, put a ticket and some rent on it and Bob is your mothers brother.

Silly Idea now out of my head.

went to see the vehicle in question today and all I can say is what a pile of **** :roll:

reminded me what a good motor the Toledo really is

Normal service has been resumed :D

must of just been the winter depression thing kicking in :(

Ken, the car in question was a Rover P6 described as very good condition but the thing under all those pretty panels was absolutly rotten yet another example of a crusty car hidden under decent panels :roll:

Glenn, you've already had a good P6, so I'm a bit surprised that you wouldn't have gone for something totally different as a possible Toledo replacement car.
Glad that you're keeping it though, you know it makes sense. :wink:
Apart from anything else; it means that you get to keep your user name, Lord Viva/Velox/Rover/Tolly, etc. :lol:

Very true.

After having to sell the P6 I always fancied another one but what I saw today has put me right off.

Long live the Toledo :D

I'm glad you have changed your mind. You haven't had much of a chance to enjoy the Toledo and it will be a great car once it is put back together. I think the grass is always greener on the other side. Far better to keep what you know.

I'm glad you've seen sense. I lost a bit of my "mojo" with Brown with the breakdown just before Christmas and the damp cold weather. Now that it is running again I can enjoy the car. Get your Tolly back on the road and enjoy it.
