You can also use a Stag rear subframe mount at £15 - its taller than the proper mount but in a way that does not matter when its fitted. You will need a longer bolt too but at £20 total its your cheapest solution.

I have it on my car and it works fine.
Matt.
Thanks Matt, will order one of those, have you got a link to right length bolt?
Cheers Rich

Today whilst using car , put her into reverse when coming out of parking space and it really thumped, had a quick look as it felt like something rubbing on gearbox tunnel. Got it on ramps when I got home and nothing untoward, so just put her into garage and thumped again as I put her into reverse!
Any ideas?
Cheers Rich

Was the idle speed ok or higher than normal? Higher would cause more of a thump

Hi Tony, Idle speed was fine and engine hot so no choke, just thumped in reverse, when putting in drive was fine and drove fine, but it was something that definitely hasn't happened since I bought car. Primed box and checked fluid and was fine.

Hi Rich
I used an Audi suspension bolt, part number PSAB10 from Pearl Products as I had one lying about, but im sure something else suitable could be found at any motor factor or hardware store. Just make sure its high tensile.

I've read in various places a 'cushioned thump' is to be expected. How that's quite defined is anyone's guess. I suspect the solution is probably to install a louder stereo and stop worrying ;)

Can anyone please explain how to ensure engine is TDC before I adjust tappetts? Have a Haynes manual but doesn't make it 100% clear enough..well not for me anyway :D . And what is the correct feeler gauge to use?
Cheers Rich

. You need to use the rule of 9, check, adjust no 1, whilst no 8 is fully open/ depressed, 2 with 7, etc etc until you get to check 8 with 1 open.

Believe the clearance is 10 thou of an inch, ie .o10, or .25 mm in new money.

Thanks Bruce, do you need to have engine on TDC or is it a case of rotating it manually each time to adjust clearances in order?
Rich

Rotating each time Rich, let me know when you want to do it, and I'll nip over, and show you how

Now that you've established yourself on here, you should start posting in the "Dolomite related" section of the forum. That's where most of the forum traffic is and is the first place I go to.
