Hi, I have come to the conclusion that I will more than likely have to sell my 1974 M regd 1850 auto. I am losing my garage in April and I can't leave it outside. I bought it in 2015 with a little bit of MOT in a pretty sorry state to be honest but was good enough to be able to put back on the road. After Bruce fitted a 38000 mile engine as the engine it came with was in a shocking state after a very poor rebuild, it went through the MOT in October 2015 with a list of advisories but was still back on the road. All the doors were poor and I have replaced 3 of them with very good ones. Also replaced the boot as that was pretty bad too. Has also had 2 NOS girling calipers. Has been serviced with oil and filter change, auto gearbox fluid change. diff oil, NOS dizzy cap, Rear n/s axle oil seal. Stainless sports exhaust. Has original interior with early grab handles and chesnut doorcards all in good order, the carpet is pretty shabby though. I have spent a fair bit on it and sits on sprint alloys but these are not for sale on the car. The car will be sold with the Weller style wheels it came to me with but tyres will need replacing. Attended the Coventry Motofest in this car last May and to get it ready the boot and bonnet were sprayed with aerosols so the paint in these areas are not brilliant. Also the d pillar vinyl is missing as it was wrecked although was very solid underneath and at the minute is sprayed silver. It is a very good drive and gearbox is very smooth. It has no nasty knocks or bangs and easily cruises at motorway speeds when required. Does not overheat and stops when asked or it did when was last driven in October 2016. Biggest thing needing attention at the minute is the inner valances and headlamp panels as they are pretty bad especially o/s and both sides need replacing as a matter of urgency. Also there is play in steering, think it's the bottom UJ and bulkhead bush but that's just my opinion. Has had skin sills in past and rear arch repairs as both sides have a double lip on the inside, But would say the sills need looking at asap too. All in all a good fairly solid car without MOT and needing attention to be able to put back on the road. There is no history with it apart from an old receipt for engine rebuild on engine that was removed under my ownership. This is my opinion only and in no way covers everything.
All in all what I believe to be a very save able car in Carmine 1850 Auto. I suppose I'm looking for offers around £1000 although that's not set in stone it may be worth less I'm not entirely sure. and as said I am losing my garage pretty soon so if not sold will be living outside under a tarpaulin in the short term. Will try and attach some pictures if I can, If anybody needs more info please PM me in first instance. Cheers Rich..
Last picture is just to show what wheels it will wear if / when it sells. Others are how it is now and when it was in Motofest last year.
