Just to be sure i would fit a new fuel pump...
I'd also fit a new carb float valve and have a good look at the jet.

That oil went somewhere....and I would want to know where...and how.

Just FYI on my Stag I had a constantly ticking SU fuel pump...hmm I thought its just sucking air...as they do smetimes.
Being naive I thought that if its pumping fuel I would see it go out of the carb overflows. I was think SU of course...not stag strombergs. then the oil light started flickering and I pondered on the ammount of fuel I had put in to just drive it about the workshop. Then I checked the dip stick....

Thank goodness I hadn't yet taken it on a journey. Petrol does nasty things to oil....
I just hope no damage is done...it sounds okay and did no real work.

Fanatastic progress. Hopefully the engine woes will be sorted now with the new lump going in. The bodyshop bloke has done a good job.

I have no doubt she will be a showstopper when finished 8)

Lovely to see this car coming together.

Graham has done a brilliant job Mike.

You will enjoy this car when it's done. Much more than you may think.

I told you so...

Good work there Mike. That car will be better than new when it is done.

WOW!!!

2 words - Simply Stunning.

I'm so pleased that this has been saved in its original form too.

I can't wait to see the completed car.

Nothing wrong with Brown Mike! Shame about the trip to Turkey, I suppose normally this would be a great opportunity for most people but not when you have cars to attend to. Still maybe you will find some far flung Dolomite's there?

When you see the shine on the paint you wonder why Brown went out of fashion! Looks great

I know it's been said before but gobsmacking that while Leyland were still putting this cast iron OHV into their cars & it was burning out rings in 40,000 miles Ford were developing & fitting the CVH.
The CVH? Now that is an oil burner  . Oh and the timing belts break regularly too.
You should always carry a spare rotor arm as these fail completely without any warning.
Timing belts probably fail owing to the waterpumps chucking coolant all over them...

dont forget the stem seals that regularly failed too

CVH auto chokes help wear your engine in 50k! My wife had an Orion with a 1.4 cvh and it gummed up with slime and burned oil before the engine expired a month or so after it went over 52k. Hateful engine give me a Triumph OHV or event a Ford OHV engine any day.
