Unless I'm mistaken, you haven't filled in the holes in the rear panel for the trim retaining clips. So, what have you done to stop water getting into the boot, or will this be dry weather only car?

Jer

Aw, I'm going to miss this thread.........

So what's the next project Tony?
Thanks Bill, I am sure the thread will continue for a bit longer, still a few jobs to do.

I do have a Triumph Spitfire in storage, would be nice to drop a sprint engine in. For now though there a quite a few jobs on the house I need to do, my wife has been very patient over the last year & a half.

You are right Jer, I will be fitting the boot trim soon, the car has to go back to the paint shop to have a few bits sorted out, so I will fit the trim after that.

Great first show for MSO, the car was very well received with loads of positive comments.

Nice to meet, Rich, Reg & Steve off the forum, had a really good chat with all of you.

A few teething problems, the car got very hot queuing to get into the show, the electric fan could not bring the temp down, this is a bit worrying, but I won't worry until I get it tuned properly. Also need to raise the front a bit the rubbing of the wheel arches is getting worse, I think the suspension has settled a bit.

All in all a good day.

You're using the same Gaz ASP shox as me, I think! Mine also settled from first fit, to the point that come the MOT a few weeks later, the tester couldnt get the ramp jack under it! I had to wind the adjusters up over an inch to recover the ride height to what I originally set. Fear not though, after that initial settle, I've not had to adjust them again in over 2 years!

Thanks Steve for the info on your experience with Gaz Shox, yes I have them fitted & they have definitely dropped, will wind them up a bit next weekend.

Superb, congrats Tony :) Was that Wyke Down? I did contemplate the trip up as it was a nice day, but got lumbered with gardening instead.

Cheers Mach1, yes is was Wyke Down, shame you couldn't make it was quite a good turn out, bit down on numbers on previous years, would liked to have seen your car. I am sure I will see you about this year.

Well if you make it down to Classic Cars On The Prom one Sunday afternoon, may see you there. Not sure what other shows I'll be doing this year except BL show at Peterbro in August.

Pity about the Rover seats, I'm after a set for mine, but probably in beige to fit in better with the New Tan, rather than swap door cards, trim and carpet for black. I assume you had the height adjuster wound all the way down? I didn't have height issues with the Rover seats in my PI, but they were from a 214, so possibly a bit lower to the rails than the 45 items.

I might have another go at the Rover seats, as I forgot how upright the driving position was in a Dolomite.

When fitted the Rover seats are about the same height as a standard seat in it's lowest position, but the Rover seats are much firmer so you do not sink into the seat like you do in the soft dolomite seat.

Yes the height adjusters were at their lowest, but I maybe able to mount the runners lower, it would mean loosing the lumber adjuster at the front of the seat but that's no problem, will let you know.

Hobo your names still on them if I can't get them to work for me.

Just bought these off the bay, they are Renault but the seller did not know which model as they were fitted to his VW camper van.

Can anyone identify them as I need to source the headrests?

They look like they will be a good fit in the Dolly, plus they are a bit more bucket like so should give a bit of support when driving enthusiastically. :D

Pretty sure they are Renault 19 16v Seats. Some were Half Leather and others all leather but I think all of them had leather headrests anyway.

Thanks for that, will look into finding some headrests

Took the car to have the tracking done, amazing how much better it feels now the front wheels are pointing in the same direction!

There was only one place in Andover that could do it as their kit clipped onto the wheel rims rather that the tyres.

Been down to Airey Tuning this morning as I wasn't happy with how the car was running.

Proper old school tuning most done by ear & feel.

Well the car is running really well now, power delivery is very progressive & smooth, tick over is better but still a little lumpy but I think that is tuned engines.

Anyway I am happy with it, 142BHP at the wheels about 185BHP at the fly wheel according to Tom Airey.

Couple of vids for you:
