Evening all,
Had a few problems with the newly purchased 1300 FWD. Ran the fuel tank pretty low on the way back to the Island after collecting her and after filling her up, she just won't go up any incline and moving forward is a problem..... Fine reversing though!
The first thing I thought of was fuel starvation after the crud in the tank was put through the system.... Checked fuel pump, cleaned out the crud but still no difference. Checked out the fuel pump but seems to be pumping well. Not sure what to d next and wonder if anyone had any thoughts?
Tried to strip the fuel pump down again tonight but for some reason I can't get the fuel pipes in as far and now the pump is leaking...... Don't know what to do?!
Any help would be welcome
John

Re: 1300 FWD problems
If the fuel pump is pumping ok then it's most likely the carb ( s ) , check the fuel bowls for crud in the bottom and you may have to blow a airline through the jet (s) as they may be blocked

Good shout, hadn't thought of that. I'll have a look and see what my limited abilities can do!
Thanks,

Re: 1300 FWD problems
I've had a look at the resto thread and this car was on twin SUs (HS2s I think).

Re: 1300 FWD problems
Thanks for the tips.... Unfortunately, it wasn't the carbs or the fuel line ( although they are super clean and free from crud now) but the clutch, which seems to have completely given up the ghost and needs replacing.
Still, at least when it's back it will be able to drive and not leak any oil, shame it's cost so much out of the respray fund but hey ho, better start looking after those pennies!

The clutch is adjustable on the 1300.
