On another note, I want to get a new chassis plate as mine has been stamped badly. Does anyone do the stamping so it looks nice? I dont want to choose the wrong size/font or hammer them too hard that its like braille on the back. What do folks do with them ?

Tony

I have a set of number and letter stamps Tony, they aren't exact to OE, but then you see a variety of shapes and sizes on the cars, particularly between old style and later style chassis plates.

When you get a chance Alun could you measure the height and width of a couple of letters/numbers for me? Ive got some stamps too so if they are close to the same I might try mine.
Maybe a zero and an I would be a start?

Cheers

Tony

Yes someone else suggested that too. If I had the rough size of the numbers they may do a neater job than me.

Bill ate Rarebits offers a stamped commission plate service, and knowing Bill it will be correct. May be worth an email?

Looking at mine I think they are 3/16ths wide or 4.7 mm, nearest nowadays is 5mm.

He will only stamp plates he has supplied. (or at least that's what he said on the CT forum a while ago)
