Sorry dude but the servo should be black...
Still not as naff as the blue one Ive got as a stag spare in the loft. That aint going on anytime soon....

Good work but a bit lavish with the red stuff, but it does the job especially on stored cylinders.

The servo was destined to be Monza red, had both cans in hand and just chose silver for reasons unknown.

I may put the servo back to black, but only if I get the replacement
tandem master cylinder mirror polished.

On the other hand, I may send the servo off to get mirror polished as well.

The carbs are now settling with minor fettling, (did not mean to rhyme) and
the economy has improved vastly, power is a lot smoother.

So for now, "I" may not do much, as the more I drive the better the car is
responding, like the brake squeal only happens for a second, as opposed
to all the time when braking, idle is predictable, steering not so vague, and
the engine is more stable at idle.

Ah, I see you're getting used to the car.

I think after 29 years of ownership, the car is finally getting used to me

Just a few pics taken at Steve's in Highley (not in order),

Changed the

Rear oil seal, subframe bushes, rear gearbox seal, few other seals, sump gasket,
spigot bush, clutch and cover, engine stabiliser, viscous, some other bits ? (brains gone
somewhere).

The tunnel is still green, and the sump had no shrapnell, good sign ?, shame the new
Rimmers stainless downpipe was not flat at the manifold, but sorted now. (Steve sorted I should say).

You forgot the oil dissolved gearbox mount (now replaced with Volvo one) and the dramas with the propshaft!

Also the stubborn exhaust, the beam across the ramp stopping engine and box removal from above or below, the crumbling spigot, the on and off rain, and lest we forget, the badly inserted spire nut on the tunnel, now named mosquito nut for the blood it got from you.

Blood is part of the overhead in the spannering game!

For all that, it didn't make me swear THAT much! And we did get all that done in 3 days (just!)

Steve

And a big thanks to Alun for bailing us out with a viscous coupling (old one had a ton of play) engine steadybar (old one half worn through at engine end) clutch spigot bush (original worn, scored and crumbled under finger pressure) and last but not least, the loan of a propshaft when my prop man let me down on reconning the original in time!

Sweet. Did you have the flywheel refaced? Did you change the crank rear seal and if so did it have the right spring tension on the new one.

Sorry to ask this after the fact....there are some duff crank seals about so I bought a few NOS ones.....you can reuse the sping from the old one if the new one is dubious.

Thanks for the info Jon,

The crank seal was changed, and we opted for the Robsport one, which seemed a lot better than the Rimmers
or the other one I had from a few years ago.

The spring seems tight enough, and has not shown any signs of leakage, yet !,

TBH, never thought of having the flywheel refaced, to my knowledge it should have been replaced with the engine
about 20,000 miles ago which is about 3 decades ago  , the car overall even before the work did not have a rotational
sort of problem, well maybe the tires did, but not the the lump or box end.

I'll keep it in mind for next time, hopefully in the meantime, all the front end leaks should be sealed up.
