Apparantly there's a small oil leak just in front of the flange the propshaft bolts to. Is this liable to be an oil seal that can be got at without major work, or am I looking at digging the spare overdrive out of the garage and hoping it works?

ALso, do the GB and OD share oil?

Gearbox and overdrive share oil. Just forward of output flange are 2 sources of leakage, the speedo drive seal (an easily replaced O ring) and the rectangular overdrive sump. The latter is held on by 6 1/4" bolts and often leaks despite new gaskets and bolts all tight. I have found a copper washer under each bolt helps here. Plus of course the output shaft seal itself of course! this is also relatively simple to change out!

Thanks Steve, that sounds like relaitively good news. I s'pose I need a gasket set and O ring too. Are there known issues with ones from Rimmerbros?
