The MoT is booked for Wednesday (the 10th). I'm quite confident that it should pass (be prepared to watch me eat those words!). Last year it failed on 2 bulbs and I've done a lot of work on it since I bought it about a year ago.

Surprisingly it failed. What was more surprising was that it failed on the offside outer CV boot which was the same side that had a new driveshaft fitted. The boot had popped off so I got my local garage to replace the grease that had escaped and refitted the CV boot with a new clip and it passed the retest so that's all done and dusted for another year.

The plus points are

1. The car is consistant
2. It passed

If you are using cable ties on the cv boot? I would check it every week :? As they are not good at all on cv boots :(
Cheers,
Tony.

No cable ties involved. I've had a look at the offside outer CV joint (the one where the boot popped off) and it has been refitted with the correct type of clip.

I'm pretty sure Nigel (the tester) would have sulked a lot if it hadn't been done right!

It was good enough for Nigel who saw fit to issue the MoT certificate so it is good enough for me.

Oh feck!

I had a blowout on the offside rear tyre on the way to work. I was on the motorway at the time and I didn't know that the tyre had failed until I had found a safe place to stop off the motorway. Because I didn't have a spare (most modern cars have a can of tyre sealant instead of a spare wheel) I had to get the RAC to recover me to the nearest tyre fitter. I had fitted Avon ZV7s to the front last year so I had a pair of the same tyres fitted to the rear costing me just over £200. A previous owner had fitted a full set of Nexens following the 2016 MoT (there was an advisory on tyres worn to the legal limit). As a result I was just over 4 hours late for work. I had my GoPro in the car at the time so I've got it on video.

Oh feck!

I discovered the the offside outer CV boot has split. I've been on to the motor factor that supplied the driveshaft and they will get it exchanged for me.
