Sheet Steel for Floor Pan

#1 Post by YoungManGoneWest »

I am at the stage of putting a floor in the dodgem mower. The span of the floor is about 830mm. The length is about 800mm. It will be carried on a frame of 25mm square box section, the spacing of which is as yet not finalised. I would appreciate any advice on the thickness of sheet steel I should use. Also with respect to the spacing of the box section. I had 1mm in mind for the sheet steel. Many thanks.

Richard

1mm sheet should be fine. I'd give a box perimeter at least one central brace bar or maybe a cross and attach the floor to it with rivets or similar, not so much for strength as to stop it bowing and booming if unsupported.
