Alun's old wheel

#1 Post by Malsprint »

I got an old wheel from Xvivalve, it was painted gold and looked quite shabby. I expected that it would need to be re machined but a bit of paint stripper and 500 - 800 - 1200 grit followed by powder coating has brought it nicely. The fact that it was painted helped to keep it in ready good condition. I could have got an even better finish with a little more polishing but then it would have looked out of place with the others. Plus my wife wanted it out of the kitchen.

Good work!

Next time you're over, you can do the rest if you like :D
Plus my wife wanted it out of the kitchen.
They probably insist on such things lest your kitchen start to resemble mine!

I used Mothers. I am not sure if you can get it in the UK. But its pretty much the same as the Magwheel polishes I used in the UK.
The key thing with these wheels is that they had been paint gold allover, probably early in their life. Once I removed the paint they where in great condition, no pitting, nice sharp edges. Alun had some more from the set. I wish I have brought them as well.
