I am plumbing a sprint engine. Fitted a Golf rad and got that sorted, but now have to connect up the heater/manifold etc connections/hoses.
From memory (not with the car at the moment) there are
2 heater connections, one higher than the other
An outlet 1/2" from the manifold
A hose tail 5/8 from the water pump housing.
I know there is an H piece, presumably for the bypass. But are there any other connections? And what goes where? I like a heater that works, so want to get it right.

From inlet manifold through H piece to upper pipe through bulkhead, then from lower bulkhead pipe thru H piece to water pump hosetail which, IIRC is aso 1/2". The H piece is omnidirectional, doesn't matter how you fit it.

This is also the direction of water flow through the heater.

HTH, Steve

Just to add to Steve’s reply if I may,
you can improve the heater output by taking the heater supply
from the back of the cylinder head and also by using an 88 degree thermostat.

I have actually fitted a VW heater matrix into a Dolomite heater box
which is a bigger capacity and has larger stubs. Alas I don’t know how well this
actually works as I am yet to get my Sprint on the road.

Thanks
Ian

Thank you both.
I can get on with that bit next (when I get time!)

Can you remember which VW model you got the heater matrix from.

This is time taken at the Sprint not necessary time worked.

Working on a ratio of just 7Hrs a day not including driving to the Sprint.
