Anyone got an early type rear number plate lamp unit part 151954 available (with decent chrome) please?

I sourced a good quality used centre section for my SE, but when it arrived it was the 'early' pre 76 type single lamp unit fitting. (my bad for not checking the pics properly  )

I know it's the wrong section for the SE, but can't justify the near £200 Rimmers want for a late centre section, therefore needs must and going to go for a hybrid so...

Also the TR6.

Interesting enough the Austin Maxi also uses it but with cut outs for reversing lights.

I think I may have one for you.

I just need to check on it's condition, if it ever stops raining I'll wander out to the garage and report back.

Just ordered a complete one from Classic Spares. It may need a better chrome top but won't know until it arrives next week, so don't get wet looking in the garage as I can get a replacement top if needs be.

Didn't realise that the fittings for the early bumper are different to the late version until I stripped the late one off today (real mission with rusted bolts) and offered up the early version....

So anyone got a parts diagram for the early fittings as the one I have only shows the later ones...

Hi Dave,

I checked the one I have and I wouldn't say the plating was good, pretty bad really, I wouldn't say it was really worth sending it out - sorry.

Please find attached a image from the parts catalogue showing all components required. It can of course be fitted to a later style bumper if uou can drill the appropriate sized holes to allow for the lamp holders and bolts.

Good luck.

Thanks Alan, got one on the way and can source a new top. Hopefully got the correct bumper to body brackets 819159 on the way from Fitchetts and should have things sorted by next weekend. (Easter weekend delays everything)

I have just found a top section, if you still need one. Not perfect but pretty good.

OK fitted the NOS pre 76 type bumper and lamp unit after sourcing some NOS bumper to body irons from Fitchets and new3/8" unf bolts from Thomas Potter locally. Bit of a mission with some of the old bolts, but got there eventually, making sure everything went back together with anti seize thread paste.

The bumper has a few storage marks but didn't want brand new 'blingy' chrome anyway as it would spoil the overall look as it's a 'preservation' not 'restoration' example.

The lamp cover could be better, so Mad Mart you have a PM :)
