Hmm….

#16 Post by sprint95m »

I once had the pleasure of driving a mark 3 Escort RS Turbo,
you could feel the bumps long before you actually hit them

Carledo wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2020 11:22 pm I've driven cars that are completely polybushed and didn't enjoy the experience, far TOO harsh and noisy.
Sometimes I have wondered if it is actually only the polyurethane bushes Steve?

What I am getting at is, invariably new bushes are fitted in conjunction with new shocks and springs.
With adjustable shocks, it is easy to set them way too hard?

The Sprint I ran in the 90s was much much noisier than the 1850 I had, yet the former had all standard rubber
whereas the latter was Superflex throughout. However the Sprint did have a Falcon exhaust system...

On my Sprint, I am going to try and improve the soundproofing by using Dynamat Light.
For behind the upper back seat I intend fitting a Correx panel (for lightness) with said soundproofing attached.

T2000s are very prone to vibration. So much so, the back subframe mountings have damper straps fitted.
The OE Metalastic mounts are no longer available so Superflex have introduced a straight replacement,
the comments I have seen say without a noise penalty.

Food for thought?

Well I fitted a deadening mat to the engine bay, maybe that’ll kill a bit of the engine noise! looks pretty, no where near as dense as the original.

Sorry Dave, yes , runs very well, drove around the yard a few times now to check the auto box out-very happy.
Did you figure out you’re central locking?

Should’ve taken the pic after doing the bits that needed doing - a point for each one you can spot.

Looking lovely there Will!

The only things I can spot are:

1.offside exhaust box not connected to hanger
2. Is there a clip missing for the brake line on the axle - nearside?

Great work though..you have turned it around very quickly!
