The concrete base was finally poured yesterday at about eleven. It still hadn't gone off by seven in the evening so Ben came in at seven this morning to run the power float over it. Looking good.
So tomorrow the walls will start going up and hopefully we'll see a bit quicker progress.

That looks good. Last time we had concrete poured we embedded a 50p coin with the date side upwards and just level with the top surface so that future generations would know the date it was all built

I do that into anything I build/do dates under the wallpaper, various bits of cement, oh the nut and bolt build on the sprint has them all over the place. In places not immediately visible of course, painted marker pen and stamped, there will be no doubting who did what when.

Tell them to protect the top of construction at the end of each session; water goes in quickly, but comes out slowly!
They do. They run a length of DPC held in-place with bricks.

It looks like Ben is doing a very nice job. I wish I could have afforded to have brick and breeze block instead of timber, but I have gone for size instead!
Yes size does matter. I (or should I say Alun) eked out every last millimetre on the width. I wish I could have gone higher with the ridge of the roof but unfortunately my computer room window is in the way.
