Toledo 1976 - Starting from the front added Pics
Re: Toledo 1976 - Starting from the front added Pics
Thanks Russell, plan is to work my way around in a circle.
Baby steps. Get this part sorted. There are to other parts that I need to work on that I know are bad. One wheel arch and one sill.
And I know that I need to adjust the brakes, rear ones are binding. But for me I know that will be a big job.

Re: Toledo 1976 - Starting from the front added Pics
Thanks Toldeo Man All'n'all really pleased with myself at the moment. I do feel like I've achieved something now. tbh lots to do I know that much. Will need to get my hands dirty again soon. Need to look at the brakes.
Few more from today. A wet and dry down and rolled on a second coat of red oxide primer. Hopefully less brush marks this time. Decided to dress her up a bit too.
Also had a little creep out into the sunshine.
Got her into first (lot of choke, and a bit smoky guessing its the dust thats been flying around. Time will let). Only thing being had to push her back into the garage as I could't get her to get into reverse? Not sure if there is an issue or its the fact I'm being a noob. Lift and push to the right? Right?

If this is a Toledo, rather than a Dolly, then it has the 3 rail gearbox where reverse is push down, left and forward.

Steve, this is a late Tolly which could have the single rail box. I remember my Haynes saying that the single rail box was introduced in 1975.

Re: Toledo 1976 - Starting from the front added Pics
Defiantly a Toledo, (at least that's what it says on the engine plate). The shifter says the total opposite. I'll give that a go tonight. Which means one of two things. Either I have a hybrid of Toledo/Dolly or somethings been replaced with the wrong shifter part at some point. :-S
Thanks Steve

Re: Toledo 1976 - Starting from the front added Pics
The easiest way to find out is to remove the carpet and the gaiter underneath. These are what the gearboxes look like:
3 rail
Single rail (I know that this one has overdrive but the rest of the gearbox will be pretty much the same).
Hope this helps.

Re: Toledo 1976 - Starting from the front added Pics
Thanks Toledo Man, I'll pull it all up tonight and report back. Any reason when I wouldn't be able to find reverse?
Re: Toledo 1976 - Starting from the front added Pics
Just had a look. Pretty sure it's single rail. Think that I found reverse. Being the fact that I only have about 2 foot left on the back of my garage and the wife's car is parked out front can't move it around tonight. Give it a crack later on tho.
It's odd was expecting the "reach" to be a lot further over to the right. Looks like it's a move of about an inch over the the right then up?
I've decided that I want to make a start on the rear drums next. I know that I have some binding on the rear drums. And hardly any movement on the handbrake. Any pointers would be appreciated.
With any luck this should mean that I can get this done before it gets too wet and cold.
