Thinking of getting rid off the modern car and driving classic Triumphs only on a daily base. Therefore thinking of a bigger one most likely an estate. The Herald ones are underpowered and too small for taking wife, children and the luggage for an extended holiday. So I thought of a Vitesse or 2.5S estate. Have anybody experience with those cars as a daily driver? How practical are they and are these easy to protect against corrosion especially in the winter season with the salt on the road (as I do not want to kill such a nice and rare car)? Are there any additional models out there (a Dolly one would be realy cool....)?

While some Vitesse estates have been made by owners I dont think they were ever made by the factory.
They are also too small for any useful purpose really and only have 2 doors. A 206 estate is bigger!

So the large car 2000/2500 is the only choice. Getting rare in good condition but buy wisely and should be a good long term prospect.
However the IRS design does limit the ulitimate load carrying and towing ability. My choice of aging estate would therefore always be a Volvo for serious hard work.
