That door looks really rather decent from here. Tiny holes like that can quite legitimately be filled with lead which, unlike Cataloy, won't take on water and fall out, good body solder kits aren't cheap but it's a durable way to treat such minor damage in cases where welded repairs aren't needed. :)

Ahh, I was envisioning massive rust holes! You'll be fine with that, you could easily get away with a localised repair. It's certainly not worth finding another door and messing up the gaps trying to fit it.

Great work on the flatting - Tracy looks chuffed to bits!

If you need new coachlines, I got those current ones from eBay. They're 3mm and 6mm:

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Done some more work today, but it was one of those days where we seemed to take one step forward and two steps back. Never mind, it's all progress!

Thanks for the advice and kind offer, but removal of the interior is next on the list!

We tried to get all the messy/dusty preparation finished before removing the doors, then the intention was to prime & paint the door shuts at the same time as the main body. However we have now encountered serious problems with paint reactions so there is likely to be quite a bit more sanding to do. :(

Whilst the interior is out I will give the internal floors a coat of something (not decided what yet) and clean everything before it goes back in. 8)

Mark,
What's reacting? Primer or topcoat?

Hi Steve,

It's mainly when applying primer wherever the car has been previously painted using aerosols. We also had a horrendous reaction putting stone chip onto the sills.

We're going to strip the sills back and try again, I'm picking up a tin of Barcoat this week which I'm hoping will help with everything else.

Well the "Rat" look is very popular at the moment 8)
I've used Barcoat before and it worked a treat.

The Barcoat is on! I made sure I covered all the "suspect" areas, then gave the whole body shell a thin coat. Looking good so far!

We'll be applying the high build primer tomorrow, then while that hardens we'll crack on with the doors.

I am currently enjoying a well-earned cider, and may yet have several more! :D

Yes thanks, Howard! :D I'd forgotten all about the weatherstrips, so that was an extra bonus when I opened the parcel, I can now remove them from our shopping list! 8)

We got the primer applied on Friday and most of the preparation done on the doors on Saturday. We had a day off on Sunday, and took the 2000 to Crich for the Standard-Triumph Day. Beautiful weather and a really pleasant drive, our first major outing since I put the engine back in, but he ran like a dream. 8)
