Greetings all!

New on here so a big 'hello'!

Purchased a Dolly Sprint in late September to join other Triumphs in the household! - car had been off the road for 11 years. Body in Carmine and I believe it may be one of the last as it has the later VIN number rather than the 'VA' Commission number.

Pics as we found it on Photobucket!

Thanks Alan

But not so nice at the mo... :(

After doing a couple of hundred miles or so the Water Pump started to leak... I have removed the pump and getting it rebuilt, but unfortunately the bevel gear is worn... What other damage to the jackshaft and if there is any swarf or similar lurking around I know not. Oil has been changed though - it was black! Otherwise the car ran very well...

Not sure whether it would be wise to put the Water Pump back and run it, or if it should be stripped down for thorough cleaning/flushing etc.

Brgds

If the skew gear is worn then so will the jackshaft; best to replace both. Do you have photo's?

I have plenty of spare jackshafts just down the road in Stourbridge and can probably find you a pump shaft too...

Many thanks for the offer - very much appreciated... I have a Pump ready to go in (with replaced shaft) and have a 'good but used' (apparently low mileage) Jackshaft. I cannot attempt to install unti I return home (I work at sea for my sins!!!) in the middle of the month. I understand the Jackshaft can be fitted with the engine in situ by removing the rad and the grille... I was intending to drop the sump and have a look in there while I am at thinks and no doubt have a look at one of the bottom/big end bearings. Any thoughts or further suggestions please?

The Jackshaft is also worn!! However, I have not looked at the Dizzy drive end yet... Hopefully no issues there (crossed fingers!)

Best regards

Ian
