Thanks alot Is this the only Dolomite in Norway? There is two dolomite sprint in Norway, mine and my friend's sprint. He also got a 2 door sprint converted toledo plus 4 big saloons. Both dolomite are french blue, mine imported from germany and my friend's imported from italy. I have one question, it is about the clutch slave cylinder. It got a spring inside that push the pistion out. This make the clutch release bearing in constant contact with the clutch pressure plate, and the result is that the bearing will constant spin when the engine run. Is this correct? |

Ah same Q as the f-b thread... No - the spring only makes the piston return to contact with the push rod. Its not strong enough to push on the release bearing carrier. If it does, you have the wrong spring. Jonners |

If it does, you have the wrong spring. Jonners I still don't understand how the clutch release bearing cannot be in constant contact. After operating the clutch, the clutch pressureplate push the bearing back. But what force is pulling it away from contact? The spring inside is weak, but still stronger than "no power" at all If I push the releasemechanism (and slave cylinder pistion) by hand back in, when releasing, the spring will slowly move the mechanism back until it stops when the bearing reach the pressureplate. |

I dont think it will be a problem. Even if there was no spring the pressure plate would only push the piston back just to take the tension off. The bearing will be just "kissing" the pressure plate and its doubtful it will see full engine rpm until you press the clutch. The saab concentric slave cylinder I have used on my sprint has quite a large external spring to hold the bearing onto the pressure plate in standard operation. Tony |

That is what I mean, bearing is "kissing" the pressure plate, therefore in constant contact Tony Thanks for clearing that out On every other car that I've been fettling with, got at spring that pull the bearing away from the clutch. (escort, cortina, mg....) B.T.W....This must be the best forum in the world ....Makes me wanna to do another dolomite (sprint) |

Isn't there a spring on the cross shaft that moves it back so the bearing doesnt stay in contact? Jonners |

There is a spring on said shaft but that is only for lateral movement.

Joooohooo ....wakeup call. Started on third try, run very well. Have to sort out a leaking heating valve, guess it have to be exhanged to a new unit, or is it possible to repair? Also no heat from heater. What is the correct heater hose routing? Guess the lower pipe into the heater valve is the heater input from the inlet manifold, and the upper heater pipe is return back to the waterpump? https://youtu.be/Ij_T9xz9EzI |

I'm sure someone of your skills will be able to repair the heater valve after soaking in various chemicals and using it in electrolysis etc... Its a pain to change the heater as the dash has to come out as well, but its not too bad. You can do the foam seals on the various flap valves at the same time. The hot side from the head or inlet manifold goes to the inlet of the heater and the return side goes to the water pump cover. If the heater is off the water goes round through the link on the H pipe under the manifold. Oh and it sounds good but I hope you didnt fill your house with fumes - rear end pointing at the garage.
