Likewise as already said by everyone, best wishes to you for a speedy and full recovery. I'll also mention you to the man upstairs.

I continue to be overwhelmed by all your good wishes. The dolomite community really is very special.

I guess nice cars attract nice people....:-) That must be it.

Mind you I'm sometimes not that nice, just ask my wife as she is currently doing the driving until the 6 weeks are up...:-)

I loved the comment from Alun and the one about the straight through exhaust. I wish I hadn't seen those untill the scar was
a bit better healed.

So many thanks again and for those of you that pray - keep praying. I need it.

May I add my best wishes for your continued recuperation, Jon. I haven't been on here for a while but have to say your advice has been greatly appreciated even if, to my embarrassment, I didn't immediately accept you wisdom due to a sense of denial on my part about how easy, or difficult a repair might be.

Take it easy,
Tim

Post subject:  Re: I'm back for a bit at least...an update.

Many thanks again for all your good wishes, prayers, cards and messages of support.

I cant say chemo is a bed of roses, but overall its probably not as bad as I expected. The main issues are feelings of nausea after the drugs are administered which is well controlled by anti-sickness drugs, and after that a general lack of energy.

I can walk a reasonable distance, but anything strenuous drains the battery pretty quickly. As an example I changed out a battery the other day and carried it up two flights of stairs to the charger, and then had to sit down for half an hour as my legs turned to jelly. So my own car maintenance is pretty much on hold.

But this week it was VERY good news. I was referred to a liver surgeon and had a consultancy on Monday. The upshot is he believes the remaining secondaries on my liver are operable, leading to a cure in as much as I ever can have one. This is a slightly different perspective from my oncologist who was describing my treatment as palliative, but I suspect she didnt want to give me false hope, and is otherwise excellent.

It looks like I will have an operation sooner rather than later if the scans due in a couple of months reveal chemo is not being that effective, or a bit later so chemo can do a bit more reducing if it is. It seems amazing but apparently half your liver can be removed through keyhole surgery, but I expect I'll know a bit more about how it will proceed when the time comes.

So all in all its been a good week, but I still need all your prayers and support.

Good to hear you are getting second (favourable) opinions.

But that's the thing with doctors,

If they haven't done it in or to a patient, there's always another who has.

Sorry, could not resist :D ,

:D That's brilliant news Jon, the best, the oncologist will have been covering most bases, and like you say, not wanting to get hopes up, great that the news is good.
