I have been looking for some 6" soft jaws for my vice for a while now. I did purchase some Eclipse make from Ebay a couple of months ago but, due to this bloody postie strike, they never arrived. I did 3D print some last year but they are now FUBARed. However, whilst looking again yesterday, I found a YouTube video which shows how to make a set of copper soft jaws from some copper tube, so I thought I'd have ago (as I'm still waiting for other parts for my 1500 gearbox rebuild, bloody strikes).
I used some 22mm. tube, cut it to length & cut it down it's length...
Then I opened it up & flattened it...
I put it in the vice to the depth I wanted & bent it over...
Put a saw slit at either end so that I can bend it over at the ends...
Cut a mitre on the ends...
Soldered the ends...
I rounded the corners and generally deburred everything, then gave it a polish...

Yeah.....
That's a good one.
If you can find older copper pipe it is better because the wall thick is greater?
