Hi all,

Just wondering if many of you have been to the Triumph Spares Day in the past few years ?

To cut things short, what's it like

Just asking as I'm down in Southampton. I've been to the recent Beaulieu Jumbles and there seems to be more & more of a higher % of Burger & Food Stalls !

It's a bit of a trek for a Burger

There's not BEEN one since Feb 2020 because of Covid. First there was a change of venue to Telford, the a postponement, then a cancellation. Then in 2022 it was cancelled at the last moment (still at Telford)

Now it's back at the old Stoneliegh location, it's anybodies guess what the ratio of "useful" stands to junk food (and just junk) stands will be! I've been to every one thats actually happened since 2012 and the junk trend IS increasing.

Also the very niche market of the MG/Triumph umbrella we inhabit, does tend to cut down on how many stands are actually worth visiting. Despite this, I can't ever remember coming home empty handed.

Plus, I like to use it as a pre-season shakedown run for the car.

As to whether it's worth YOUR while coming, only you can decide, for me, it's only a pleasant hour's drive, so early on a Sunday morning that there's no traffic about. Which is rewarding in itself!

I have had a stand at every show for the past 15 years or more.I say me, it is a sort of "collective" of locals from sussex, stay overnight, a few beers Sat night and lots of tea/biscuits and chatting on Sunday. And buy/sell assorted tat.
This year I get the feeling there may be more of us. "We" have 3 years of tat to move on, having sorted through garages/lofts etc. and despite the big Stafford show being cancelled, I get thefeeling there is pent up demand for events.
Even if you buy nothing used, it is a great opportunity to stock up on consumables, or arrange to pick parts up. As to Dolly stuff, I have a load of smaller Toledo parts, and one of the chaps on the 3-stand island we have is almost exclusively dolomite.

It is a great start to the year, and a place to meet up with friends, or visit club stands and make new ones.

I am a fan of the show. (But NOT of its admisistration. I haven't got a clue about the "portal" I have been sent. About as clear as mud. A call to Kelly will be made next week)

The Show was originally the brain child of classic car enthusiasts along with separate shows for MG, Jaguar, Ford etc and they cared about content, so there was limited non relevant stuff, even the cheap and nasty tool sellers were few and far between. Stands were sized and priced to accommodate garage clearances and using the cow sheds and outside areas it was very economical; I first took space in ‘92 and the show was a rigid diary date for me for 20 years or more. Now it is run by commercial show organisers, they care less who they resell space too and prefer the cosseted space within heated halls,it will never be as good as it was in the ‘90s, especially now that Triumph and MG have been combined half of the visitors and half of the content has no relevance to me, but I still attend unless a spontaneous ski trip or Wales 6 Nations fixture takes precedence, though I no longer take space personally.

I see it as an early year social opportunity to see other members, new and old, and make sure whether I’m there or not that a selection of Club spares is available even if only to allow members to familiarise themselves with what is on offer. Items such as cill components and steering racks can be bought without the excessive postage that their lengths unfortunately dictate.

This year, all being well, having already taken delivery of the rears, the new Club quarter light seals will also be available.

It’s still on the whole a good day out…

I wasn't aware it hadn't happened for the past couple of years, so will certainly have a trip up.

I'm not really after anything in particular, but I am a bit of a hoarder, so will take my little van up "just in case" !

Autojumbles for cars of our period, or any period will by nature get smaller, as the majority of the triumph stock is finite as much for most of any other older car, People who run autojmbles will want to keep Jumbles going, if it needs a stall of Bric A Brac will fill the venue, so be it, gone are the days where there a local jumble will be on every weekend, theres not enough stock about any more, Even Beaulieu's world famous summer jumble is much smaller than I can remember, and Enfield is getting smaller, and probably wont exist next year because of the ULEZ.
Anyway, I digress, when is the Stoneleigh jumble due to be happening, AND, ...... As I know Im going to miss Enfield, whats on in the Cumbria/Lakes area on the last Weekend of MAY or even the week before, I was totally out manoeuvred by the boss and she has got us invited to cumbria to stay with her sister for that bank Holiday weekend.
