Just canvassing opinion.. I am refitting my engine and gearbox to my sprint..

Just wondered what everyone thought about fitting the rear gearbox crossmember before refit or after the unit is in the car.

Looks like there is enough access to fit prior to fitting to get it in. I took it off before I took it out, but was a bit of a jiggle to get it passed the exhaust etc…

Thanks in advance…

Makes fitting the engine and 'box far easier if it isn't there; offer it up afterwards is the way I do it.

My advice is don't fit it because you're going to make the job of swinging the engine/gearbox combo in even harder. It is a pain in the arse job as it, without adding more obstructions.

Especially since refitting it when the box is in is easy.

Thank you… I left it off and went in easy enough and fitted after

Thanks for the advice…

I did use a load leveller which worked well too…
