Sprint Courtesy Light

#1 Post by sm519193 »

Can anyone with a Sprint or I guess the Dolomite variants tell me if the rear doors have the switches? My sprint has a hole with nothing on the OSR and on the NSR just a bracket
My interior light never worked and it was something that was always a tomorrow job, checked the bulb it was duff.. ordered a new LED one and fitted today.

New problem is that its on all the time, so if the rears are supposed to have a switch and my doesn't it means mine are permanently closed switches
If they didn't have the wiring just the hardware if fitted then I need to check the front switches, not a problem but don't want to take them apart if not needed.

Never had a Sprint so can't be 100% certain but have seen plenty of the lesser models all of which had switches on all four doors.

They should have switches on all four doors. Make sure the connectors haven't fallen inside the 'B' posts and are shorting out.
Sprintless for the first time in 35+ years. :boggle2: ... Still Sprintless.

Engines, Gearboxes, Overdrives etc. rebuilt. PM me.

There are switches on all 4 doors of all models (except 2 door Toledo obviously)

just a single (earth) wire to each and the rear door post wires can fall inside the B post and get lost easily. The tags on these wires often don't have insulation, so can easily fall on metal and short the lamp into constant operation. Or it may simply be that the switch on the lamp itself is in the "on" position, rather than "switched" position.

If Mick has none available
there are plenty of others available which will fit, just search Austin Mini.

Unfortunately Mick had just sold his last one so I was forced to get them from Rimmers

I took a while trying to fish out the wires but with the new switches fitted and some maintenance on the fronts (dodgy connections) I now have the light coming on when it should on all 4 doors

Cheers for the help all :)
