Thanks BWJ - I'll give that a go tomorrow. Wot with my wiper parking problem sorted, my horns that would work only intermittently sorted (just crimped up the contacts to make them tight) - as they say everything happens in threes. Now what else can I throw in for discussion?

Dodgy hazards
This thread caught my eye this evening. I have had a problem very similar to this for a few years but never thought I'd get it sorted - none of the leccy boffins I know seem to throw any good pointers up. The basic problem is if I put the hazards on (either for an instant or any length of time) then ...

Wiper problem
Eureka! Wipers now parking when/where they should!.
How? Dunno! I took the air vent and tube out to view the linkage and shaft. Disconnected the linkage, switched the wipers on - same as before, parking mid-sweep. A bit of feely-feely to discover that the shaft actually moves a fraction (in and ...

Oil cooler
BTW, forgot to mention that after connecting the cooler up today and having filled it and the hoses with fresh oil, cranked the engine (without any choke) to build up the pressure, then started the engine to look for any leaks - like wot I was told in the insts. After about 5 - 10 mins I began to ...

Oil cooler mounting
Thanks BWJ. When fitting the cooler on the ARB, I stuck a couple of thin-ish strips of rubber around the ARB where the jubiliee clips would go before feeding the clips through the two sets of mounting holes, rejoined the clips and tightened up. The unions at the cooler end don't foul or touch ...

Oil cooler
Good point re the cooling in the winter. I have actually fitted the cooler to the front a/r bar using two jubiliee clips through the mounting holes and around the bar, with the hose connection part actually resting on the front spoiler/front valance. The pipes are routed in the space here and up ...

Wipers
Thanks Alan & Jonners. New there would be someone out there who knew the bizz. If it is the washer problem then I do have the thin wavy washer fitted between the nut and the spindle. If not then the wiring is def worth a look as according to my local Lucas agent they were going to charge me c £45 ...

Wiper motor problem
Hallo Dolly boffins,

Has anyone else suffered with this one? - When I switch off my wipers, they stop at whereever they might be in the sweep, rather than return to the park position. I have had the wiper motor out of the scuttle, disconnected the linkage and reconnected the leccy juice. Lo ...

Have now fitted a new set of NGK BP6EFS - gapped to 25k,
put some 97 high octane fuel in the tanK and set the timing at about 8 degs BTDC with the strobe. After a quick burn up a few local small hills I didn't detect any pinking but really need to run up something a lot steeper and longer - like ...

Re: dwell
Don't you lot laugh - but I thought I'd check out my dwell on my even crappier dwell / RPM meter and found it registered about 20. Now I know that the book says something about 45 - 55 degs but then I realised - hang on!! - with elec ign fitted, surely the dwell is irrelevant! Duh
