It is...

...Tony's old car. Depending on what the bodyshop say this week, I am very tempted to bid for this as a RBRR car, then move it on afterwards. Tony spent many many hours and pounds on this. A nice car indeed.
Re: Route

Thanks for your responses guys.

To deal with a few of your points:-

1. If the Sprint isnt ready by June, you will find me rocking away in a mental hospital somewhere!
2. This event isnt a race! Spirited driving is optional.<img src=http://www ...

The Birdlip Test Route

Just to guage interest on a potential Summer event...

I had this idea of organising a Summer run for TDC members using some of the old 'Birdlip Route' from Coventry, through the Cotswolds via some testing hills, and back to Coventry.
Spoken to John and..

.. here's what he said...

Hi Mark

W. Bowler in Nuneaton. He is in the yellow pages. I don't think he is the best but the last bloke I used was in 1993 has retired !

Draw your own conclusions. I think John had to trim some excess off before fitting the chrome trim, but the ...

Found it...

The materials came from Coach Trimming Supplies in Birmingham. Phone them on 0121 694 5664 for a catalogue.

I am sending them a sample from my own old vinyl roof for them to match, so will advise when they come up with the goods.

Vinyl Roof

I was recommended to a firm in Birmingham by John Abra (red Sprint at Stoneleigh in Feb) for the supply. I have a catalogue at home, but cant remember the precise name of the firm. I think it's something like Birmingham Coachtrimming Supplies. As for fitting, John used a fitter in Bedworth. I have ...

Phil Stewart Smith

Just been to Phil's funeral - he passed away a week or so ago. As a tribute to him, we had 4 Dolomites behind the procession. He would have loved that.

Phil was a dedicated TDC West Midlands Area, and one of life's genuine good blokes. He always had a funny story to tell, and he could ...

Revs

Used mine in Sprinting competitions 5 or 6 years ago, in standard trim apart from suspension.

Found it best to rev to 4k, and dump the clutch, which gave enough just about the right traction/spin balance to get quickly off the line. Certainly wasnt any slower than the usual tuned rwd ...

Ken Clarke - just a word of warning...

Myself and another TDC member in the midlands have had work done on our Sprints (mech and body) which we were both very dissatisfied with for various reasons. Would never use him again personally, but that is just my opinion.

FYI, his workshops are at Honiley, near Balsall Common ...
