Toyo R888's and Yoko A032R's are great for track use but too soft for sensible wear rates in road applications.

Something like Yokohama A539's would do the job nicely and still have a decent wear rate.

S'alright, I'm not intending to lose the drive bit of it. Just the internals! Wonder if I can fit the coilpack in there for that "standard" look

RE Megasquirt - it's much for the reason mentioned previously - until I'm happy with the car and it's set up well enough (I need to drive it around for a while first, and see if it's a going concern) I'm not going to be doing much to it.

It also gets a bit tiresome then, would have to take the car off the road for a while to do the high pressure lines, fuel pumps, wiring, stuff like that. Then sort out some kind or set of throttle bodies, maybe a plenum, a manifold, etc etc...

Only once I've bedded it in will I think about other methods of induction and fuelling
Very sensible. That way you get to appreciate the improvements or not as the case may be. I know FI will improve on the carb set up so it's not a dig at that particular mod.
You can use always use Megasquirt to control ignition only via EDIS and change to full FI later on. Saves buying a separate ECU later.
Very true - hadn't thought of it like that. Will see how up for it my soldering iron is feeling when I get back to the bench

Probably about 4 weeks before the event judging by previous take-up. All depends when those confirmed slots are taken. It's a big dollop of cash for your first track-day. IF you do come along, you are more than welcome to pitch a tent in my back garden if it breaks up the journey. I'd offer you a room but they have kids in them!
