Dolomite 1850 Auto

#1 Post by mbellinger » Tue Nov 09, 2004 1:41 pm

Folks,

I am considering adding to the Bellinger fleet (currently one immmaculate 1300fwd) with one of the above vehicles.

I have sort of tended towards the 1850 as I understand that the engines are fundamentally much tougher than the 1500's. Also for some reason these cars seem to be the bargain of the range, being a bit unloved and priced accordingly.

I need something reliable and able to keep pace with modern cars around the suburbs etc. An auto attracts me because they seem cheaper to buy and the lack of a clutch will definitely help with my south London daily commute. However it must be up to the odd motorway run as I have to go to Bristol and Northampton periodically on business. Will an 1850 auto fit the bill?

If I find the right car in the right condition I could sell my ghastly modern box. Any opinions or experiences or hints out there?
