Re: Rimmers

#16 Post by Bruce » Fri Jun 30, 2006 5:15 pm

Yeah but nobody has them despite advertising them in stock, I jsut spent several hours phoning around all the dealers this morning including all the exhaust manufacturers to find that mild steel centre boxes are not even listed any more and nobody has one.
Rimmers and fitchetts may advertise them but they don't have any and won't be getting more.
I need at least the centre box and rear section to be sure of getting rid of the holes although the majority of corrosion seems to be in the rear box.
The car is only going to be with me for a year till I get one of my projects on the road, really don't want to spend serious money on it for someone elses benefit.

Patterns are kept....

and a company called Chester Exhausts will make you one up. I had this problem when early dolomite with overdrive systems vanished. They made me one and sent it for about 180 quid. Good quaity mild steel as its still on the car some 4 years on.
Some more thoughts...

#21 Post by Jon Tilson » Sat Jul 01, 2006 12:48 am

The 1500 and 1300 dolly system is very similar to the older dolomite but has that kink in the pipe from fromt pipe to box. So just get an early non o/d dolly centre section and use you old pipe with a cut and join...
The rear over axle bit mates up with either old or new 1850 systems fine...Ive mixed and matched before.

custom chrome, nuneaton tel 02476 errrrr forgot the rest, whack it in google or see a previous thread on zorsts. they'll do owt you want, but tend to favor stainless and shiny chrome, although im sure they'll do quite competitive mild steel...

will make up whatever you like, to your (accurate) measurements, or take the car there and they'll do it 4 u
done and dusted

Managed to get a rear section from CESUK and pieced in a bit between the old centre and new rear box. Sorted for around 45 quid including the clamps.
