White 1850

#48 Post by Carsreunited » Sun May 21, 2006 10:34 pm

The white 1850 that I accidentally bought and was used on the club restoration stand is for sale. Proceeds will go to the club.

It's the one that Simon Goldsworthy of ex Practical Classics fame had before me. It needs work but for £150 it's not bad at all.

If you are interested let me know. I can deliver it on my trailer for the cost of petrol in the tow car.
Well done Kirsty. I can't think of a better car to have as your first car

Lewis,

That's one mad back seat cover! You could of at least got it to colour match the seats though Still the black matches the seatbelts I suppose

Fits the new car a little better. Slightly more appropriate

Kirsty, sounds fantastic! Best of luck towards passing your test!

Well done Kirsty. Sounds like the speedo cable is a little bent. A new one should sort it. About a tenner.

Don't know how they could test it on an mot so I wouldn't worry about it being a fail.
Speedo cable

Congratulations on your new purchase, you`ll have many happy miles together i`m sure, regarding the speedo, it won`t fail the MOT, they have no way of testing it really, having said that it would be a good idea to sort it though, if nothing else just to know how fast you`re going

It needs one sill (in zintec) finishing off, the other sill replacing and a fuel leak from the pipe under the body repairing. I have three doors in Inca that are very sound (with sundym glass in) which will go with the car as the doors are a bit shot. Apart from that its pretty sound. Just had a new clutch master and slave so it least it moves under its own steam.
garages

#57 Post by kirstycat20 » Tue May 23, 2006 8:11 pm

I'm going to take dolly (still havn't given her a proper name ) for an MOT - she's ok till June 14th but Im on holiday around then n Id like to get her looked at before I go so can prepare myself for any potential expensive repairs (there better not be any!)

So just wondered if anyone has a garage recommendation for the Leicester area?? I know she'll probably be fine at any garage but if there is a particularly triumph friendly one nearby I'd like to take her there!

Also the back seat isn't fixed down? Are they supposed to be? I sat on it while the car was being driven and it just slid from underneath me. . .

Thank you!!

There is a kind of lip along the bottom front edge of the seat that its should locate behind. That will stop the slidy forward problem. I know a good place in Kettering that is older car friendly if you get really stuck.
I'll have a look for that catch thing then - thanks! After some looking I think I'll just take it to a garage about a 5 min drive from me - they apparently offer a truly impartial service

NO NO NO DONT TAKE IT TO KWIK FIT(i guess thats who you mean). The spotty 12 year olds wont know what a triumph is.
go around to a few local independant garages and look for a old chap in old oily leyland/ austin overalls and maching baseball cap. ask what car they drive/ own if the answer is something older than 20 years old thats the man to use.
If you have neigbours with older cars ask them who they use.
A girl i know took a escort to KF for new brake discs/pads, she was charged £160 , a local independant back street type garage said he would have done it for £75.(the discs and pads only costs £40) so that make £120 for less then 30 minutes labour.
