Spring stripes

#1 Post by tinweevil » Tue Aug 01, 2006 3:33 pm

Do the coloured stripes painted on springs (e.g. suspension or valve) follow any kind of standard or are they totally manufacturer dependant?
From a general engineering view, so not sure if it applies to springs but.
Manufacturer, material, metal spec, production batch and certificate of conformity number.
Usually in coloured stripes or bands.....
Although I can't recall seeing anything similar on springs.
