Chrome Trim Removal

#1 Post by PurpleBargeKen » Sun Jan 01, 2006 12:49 pm

Hi again. Happy New Year! Another question I'm afraid. Can anyone advise me of the best way to remove and refitting(without totally destroying) the chrome trim around the rear pillars and roof top? I'd rather have some kind of plan before I wade in there with a grinder, sledgehammer and a pair of pliers (sum contents of my tool box really<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> )

Thanks in advance

Ken

Around the rear is fairly easy; wide flat bladed screw driver to loosen carefully and then pull off...watch you don't go through the return of the vinyl roof if one is fitted.
The gutter trims are very easy to ruin, try to prise them off and they will turn into a spiral! Use an old fashioned crown bottle top opener with a bit of rag between it and the trim to 'pop' it off incrementally

You don't want to 'bin' them, they're stainless steel and weigh in for 55pee a kilo<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
alun - i still have them, i could bring them to stoneleigh if you like! you'll need a fair few of them to make up a kg, and fair few more to make up 2 kgs, which would equate to the fundage required for a bag of chips. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... ohwell.gif ALT=":">

seriously, i'll save all my scrap bits if you like...

My guess is pay on entry unless you have a car to go on the club stand, but you need to sort that through andy or your area rep I think, if you're a member of the club that is. You usually get a car pass if you have a car on a stand.
im a member, but wont have a car on the stand (as far as I know) and will just pay on entry.
