1)I waiting 18 week's for a kit and had to file the caliper's to fit Supose to be a bolt on kit B####KS,<br>
2) Mate has a twin turbo 302 AC Cobra kit car,<br>
with a Hi Spec Brake kit it keeps cracking the Disc's,<br>

Do the rules allow you to run different Disc's and Caliper's<br>

Thanks for the info. After making my post I'd done some research on HiSpec and found a few scare stories where people had been let down and felt that HiSpec couldn't give a r4ts a4se. I'm now in two minds. <br>

As a matter of interest, what type of discs was your mate running? Grooved, Drilled or combination and were they HiSpec supplied items? The one that I read about was of calipers cracking rather than discs.<br>

I might give them a call on Monday and see what the situation is in terms of lead time. I would think that if they have a hub assembly and wheel they wouldn't be able to get it wrong so hopefully I wouldn't be having to butcher brand new anodised calipers! If they can't be done in less than 4 weeks then it looks like the Americans will be getting my money as I don't have the budget for AP or brembo stuff.<br>

The regulations are that front braking is free, Have to retain drums on the rear though. I'll have a brake bias adjuster somewhere as Mark promises me that the Rears WILL work so well I might want to be able to turn them down! Once I know the secret (and if it works!) I'll pass on the wisdom!!!<br>

Spoke to Cobra owner today,<br>
Has Hi Spec suppied disc's Vented/Drilled the full work's and these have cracked up,<br>
New Disc's are machined down B.M.W. one's,<br>
Give them there due they where replaced after a long wait,<br>
Hi Spec have since moved into LARGER premies with more staff and some of the previous problem's are going,<br>
If you decide to let Hi Spec do a Brake Kit make sure you give them a Wheel and possible a complete hub assy,<br>
There's nothing worse than making something fit after you PAID someone to do it,<br>
<br>
Is the Sierra modded kit not suitable,<br>
There's plenty of people here that recommend it.

I remember reading from some guy's website who had his Elan HiSpecced that Geoff (Head honch a HighSpec) didn't recommend Drilled as fractures became more probable????<br>

Anyway, I spoke with them today and I was told the current lead time is 28 days. I was aslo told that this was erring on the side of caution but that they are very busy due to the impending season start.<br>
<br>
As for the sierra calipers, I'm not convinced that they will be quite up to full on track use. I reckon that they are a good mod for a road use car but track use and I mean 5+Laps in one stint will result in brake fade. My wife's Mini Cooper suffered pretty soggy brakes after 4 or 5 laps at Keevil. I also think that spending £500 on decent brakes will give you at least a couple of seconds per lap advantage .<br>

The fact that the HiSpec calipers look damn sexy doesn't come into it! I just want to try something different as well. I'll definitely be taking a full hub assy down as well as standard sprint alloys and my minilites. I think my minilites can take bigger brakes according to the guy I bought them off but I want to be able to use standard sprint alloys as well. They are still a great looking wheel IMO.<br>

As far as I know there has been some hold up with Mark getting his pistons through from JE. It may well be if what I have on order is the same as you have then I will ask Mark to source them through TTS for my engine. He confirmed the cost to me the other day as being £750 which is significantly higher than what you have paid. I can only think that there is some difference between the two sets other than the price.<br>

I'm glad you have got some bits off of him. He's looking into the JE/TTS thing at the moment. Either way I'm going to let Mark sort it out, he knows what he is doing whereas I don't! Seems to be quite a lot of supplier politics involved if you catch my drift.<br>
