That's fine. When you get to CC head for the competitors entrance & ask to be pointed in the direction of the TDC, I won't know the exact location until I get there. I'll be there from 8:00am 'til about 5:00 ish.

Great Day

#27 Post by MaddMart » Sun Jun 18, 2006 12:43 pm

I had a great time & there were some nice older cars there. There was even a Le Mans style start for a bunch of GT40s, but they only paraded round which was a shame.

The Sprint ran very well & I managed to take 7 secs off my previous best lap doing a 1min 27secs. This was due mostly to the fact that I am now running a 4.1:1 diff.

Nice to see Adam, Rich & James (miniman). There were two other Sprints there, another Brooklands with roll cage etc, I think this was the one on the Jan '05 cover of Retro Cars magazine. The other Sprint was a French Blue with a 3.5l V8 in. Johan a South African (now living in the Souhampton area) owns this but I didn't have chance to have a look under the bonnet.

It was bloody hot and this told on my Sprint (see Smokin' thread in main forum) but still managed to get four sessions in without blowing up! I had my first spin at Quarry on my last session. I went into the corner with far to much speed, missed the apex by miles, and as I went wide on the exit I ran over the grasscrete & that was that, ended up facing the wrong way & onto the grass on the infield. Still, the Sprint started up again straight away & I was on my way to complete another few laps. Quarry chalks up another!

You're bloody lucky, most people who lose it a Quarry end up in the barrier or another car. I wouldn't want to be your washing machine on the smalls wash

Very impressive lap time Mart, thats into proper sports car territory, As a comparison i know Rich's Mk1 does it in about 1min 24 which has a hell of a lot more power (albiet going sideways isnt the quickest way around!). I reckon the biggest improvement was probably your tyres!
