adams is in 'charge' of my 3310 just mail him and i'm sure it will be posted to you it may even have been unlocked already ? if you need or want the charger etc it's here in the house somewhere

If it this one, it is suitable for 3310 & 3410 (amongst others).

Don't need the phone anyway so I will post it out to you regardless. If it isn't any good, the RSPCA take mobile phones and recycle them so if you could drop it in to a charity shop I'd be grateful. On the other hand, if one I send you is okay, perhaps send me the old one back (as I don't want the postage back anyway) if you don't have an RSPCA shop near you?

Phone arrived, thanks, lokks as though it will fit in car kit, will try in a minute. 
 
However, have put SIM card in and it say 'invalid SIM' so I guess it was not on V'fone. Have found some instructions on getting numbers and keying in a load of stuff to 'unlock' Is this wise ?

Try the code you've found - it won't do any harm because it can't be "locked" any further than it already is.

Yes, it should be okay to use the codes you've been given - usually a series of numbers and #s.

as predicted Susie, the 3410 fits the carkit a treat. However, it is 'Invalid SIm Card' when I install the Vodafone SIM. 
 
I've had a look on the nett, lots of places make reference to needing to know what network the phone was one before an unlock code can be generated. 
 
Any ideas?

Sorry Malc - no idea. Bought it for 50p off the white elephant stall from my old church when they had a fete! 
 
Go to the link on my previous message - get the IMEI number from inside the phone (behind battery) or key in the #6 etc. to get the IMEI number. I can only suggest you work your way through the networks - try United Kingdom and Orange first. 
 
Other suggestion would be to borrow a SIM for a few seconds from somone on another network to see if that works. 
 
Just had a flash of inspiration! Going back to civvy street working for the police, each providers' IMEI numbers have set prefixes. If you can let me know the IMEI number I will investigate...............

Took a few shots and I was sure I was 'over' the 5 go rule, but heh, keep whacking in the codes, now it all works. 
 
A bit confusing all this DCT3 & DCT4 stuff and you have to piece together the info from a few sites. e.g site needs to now if it DCT3 or DCT4 but doesn't tell you <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/eyes.gif ALT=":rolleyes"> . Another site does<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)"> 
 
Must admit, i'm still lost as to what the GID1 'guff' is all about, but that is somewhat irrelevant now <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/wink.gif ALT=";)">
