This is all the law of diminishing returns really. Yes it may be possible to get reliable 120 bhp type numbers from a 1300 but it will cost money, fiddling about and heartache.<br>
Why bother when a good TR7 lump is peanuts.<br>

That supercharged Spit is wonderful....but mentally challenged.<br>

In a Spit I can see some point, as the Triumph slant lumps dont sit well on the suspension and the six is a waste of cast metal, although I would probably fit a Rover T16, XE or Ford I-4 or Zetec if I was after that kind of performance, which isnt what a spit is for really, the rear suspension being crap. (I do own 2 so I know) <br>

In a dolomite...no substitute for cubes as the yanks say.<br>

As I said before, I want to see how far the 1300 engine will go. I want to see if its possible to get the needle off the end of the dial like I can in my 1500. I have two engines sitting here waiting for something to do. This seems like a good use for one of them.<br>

I reckon its possible to (reliably) crack the ton for under a ton and Sprint speeds for less than 250. 0-60 times, we'll see.<br>

I am going to be building a rally 1300 engine soon and probably a mild tune 1500 as well.<br>
<br>
Having had a go in a 1300 Spit with 144 BHP (I saw the printout with my own eyes) I know it can be done.<br>
<br>
Don't want to spend that sort of money (and it was a bit peaky!!), but 95-110 brake should be achieveable reasonably economically.
