Air Filter Ducts
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement Sprint air filter duct 'bracket' from. You know, the one which is bolted down the side of the rad. The cardboard bit on mine is knackered and so the ducts are on the shelf in the shed.

Re: Air Filter Ducts
K&N's have less resistance and a higher media surface area than a standard paper element filter which = higher air flow = more potential fuel/air mixture = more BHP. They use an oiled filter media which is more efficient at capturing particles. Pipercross filters use a similar method but a foam filter media.

Of course if they are drawing in less dense hot air they acheive nothing.

If you get one you will never need to replace the element again - clean it and re-oil every 10,000 miles and it should out last the car.

And you get a nice K&N sticker to plaster on your car next to the Mintex, Weber and Janspeed Decals so everyone knows your a speed freak!

Re: Air Filter Ducts
Mike, I have a knackered but complete one that I was going to use a s a template to make myself one (from a bit of knackered boot trim material which appears to be the same). If I can find the bits and if they ever let me out of this place with sufficient frame of mind to do something with the remainder of the evening then no doubt I'll get around to it! Maybe in time for Cosford?

From memory the card bit just pop rivets to the metal bit thet bolts to the rad?

Stickers, you mean like this one...?
The PO of my car made up an air filter duct from (i think) tin. (It does fit both hoses, one has just come off in the pic <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... rassed.gif ALT=":o"> )

Does the K+N make a difference? I think so, better throttle response and they say 20 bph (not sure i'd go that far though) You will need richer needles in your SUs though to cope with the extra air flow: BBTs do the trick. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... smokin.gif ALT=":smokin">

Price sounds about right, i got mine for AU $120. I wasn't going to replace it after the fire either (i just put up with the slightly melted bottom corner - no one can see it <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p"> )
