I dunno how much use it would be. You'd need to beef up the hydraulics as there would be a need for extra pressure in the system, and the puny discs would have twice as much heat going into them. I reckon it would work really well for one stop, but then the discs would be knacked.

Conservation of energy, energy cannot be created or destroyed only converted from one form to another. Brakes convert kinetic energy into heat energy. Having twice the friction surface can't produce any more heat unless you drive faster 'cos your brakes are better. <br>

Dual calipers <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>would</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> have the advantage that you could do more stops before you overheat your fluid because you have a greater specific volume to heat.<br>

Dual calipers <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>may</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> allow you to do lots and lots more stops without overheating because you have a greater heated volume and so a greater surface area to disperse heat. They may even cure the problem but I wouldn't bet on it.<br>

Dual calipers <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>may</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> overheat and warp your disks over repeated stops if the second set of pads etc cannot remove heat from the disks as fast as the plain air they replace. On the other hand they may be able to remove heat faster and so be a benefit.<br>

Dual calipers <!--EZCODE ITALIC START--><em>will not</em><!--EZCODE ITALIC END--> increase the pressure in the system, only pushing harder on the pedal can do that. The same pressure on the pedal will result in the same pressure on the disk but over twice the area leading to a greater retardation effect. If anything you'll have to push the pedal further but less hard to stop at the same rate of retardation. I think. This would result in finer control of your brakes and with practice allow you to get closer to the friction limit of your tyres on each stop.<br>
