Just found that site.

I'd always wondered why Phil had chosen the TVR V8, now I know why

Yer so this V8 dream of mine is a bit foggy now, V8s are all heavy and not that powerful unless you got enough money. I'll get a supercharger too

power
adam dont forget the ajp is quite highly tuned
a chevy small block can put out some really serious power and it is also available in alloy belive milldoon, gale banks ? etc ....do some really radical heads for them
ZR1 an all ally 350 with 32 v heads
and big blocks can easily go to 1000+hp at a cost
$60,000 buys you a lot of motor. 12 litres, roughly. It's a 760 "COMMANDER" made by Steve Schmidt, revs clean to 7800RPM.

And backs it up nicely, too

Woosh!

Shame it'd rip out the back axle, twist the turrets apart and rip itself from the subframe but it'd be one fast ride. For a bit!

Need a tube chassis methinks....

Or you could build up a full pro-comp 6000BHP Hemi, problem is they need rebuilding for every 4-6 second pass they make.....
Re: power
A chap I work with was a mechanic for showtime drag racing team, they were running 6000 BHP @ 8000 rpm, he was telling me after every run it`s treated to new big ends and most likely mains too, also a set of spark plugs as they melt. Fuel consumption wise it sucks down a 20 litre mix of nitro 4-6 secs.

Re: power
Thing is I ran my 1850 for a week or two with sub 20mpg consumption so I'd be ok
