My next race (if you can call my last appearance a race!) will be at Brands Hatch. From what I hear, it will be the biggest race of the year. I'll be racing on the Saturday and the Sunday.

If you follow the link, you will see a variety of different races including classic motorbikes, Formula Audi etc. Theres also some air display type stuff at lunch time on both days.

If half the people who turned up at Thruxton to say Hello made it to Brands then i will be very pleased!
Well we bought bronze package tickets, which at £26 each isn`t bad as you get access to the 2nd floor of the MSV centre with it`s own bar and a good view of clearways.
Standard tickets are £14 and for an extra £5 you can get a grandstand seat. Can`t wait.

Thanks to DollySteve for stopping over and saying Hi. I'm sorry I wasn't able to chat more between trying to get the little niggles sorted out.

I managed to qualify around 5th from the bottom and was around 5 seconds off the pace of pole. That's quite a bit when its only a 1 minute lap! I could have gone quicker had i not been black flagged for spilling fuel onto the track after 5 laps. Everyone else got about 14 practice laps. The fuel was spilling out due to me over filling the tank and a poorly positioned vent pipe. Easily sorted for the race.

Lined up on the grid for the race and I was on the pit wall side. Lights went out and we all booted off. By the time I was topping out in second, there was a massive crash. All I saw was tyre smoke and cars pointing in un-natural directions. The Mark 2 Jag in front of me had T-boned an Escort at about 70mph along with 3 other cars having collisions of sorts. I took to the pit exit to avoid the mele in front and to avoid somene ramming me up the backside. Once the smoke started to clear I made my way through the mess and out of the way. 20 minutes later the paramedics had done their job (Thankfully no driver was seriously injured) and all the wrecked cars were removed.

The restart was alot more civilised and I had a nice battle with an RS Escort and a couple of Mini's. We were all pulling in a Capri from Class B when I had a spin at Druids hairpin. That was effectively the end of my race.

My fastest lap was nearly 2 seconds faster than qualifying and about 4 seconds slower than the winner. I had had a magnificent time. What ruined it for me was the fact that my engine had expired again. Same rattle from the crank area, just not as severe this time.

Didn't stay for the second race which looks like it must have been a good one. The top 8 were covered by about 3 seconds! It was a fantastic race meeting with massive crowds. I even had kids coming up to me asking me to sign their programmes!

Its too early to start talking about what is happening with my engine. Mark wants to see the car next week. I don't need to spell out to anyone what I want.

Published results are below if anyone is interested.
How is your sump baffled?

I know its baffled and has a winddage(?) tray. Exactly how its baffled and whether or not the oil pick up has been modified, I have no idea. I also believe the oilways have been bored out in the block.

Scott,
Sorry to hear about the engine again. I was actually standing at Druids when you spun. I did come over while you were in the paddocks afterwards but there was a bit of a crowd round you. I did wonder why you came off early in qualifying. Still there was some excellent racing and the Dollys seemed to be quite well represented. I hope you get the car sorted for next time.
Race 1, Osbourne got stuck in 4th gear towards the end and rapidly dropped down the field, Crudgington had an off in qualifying and stoved in every panel on the off side. He started from the back of the grid

I think Ken Clarke was the only one to keep it straight.

Thanks for the sentiments anyway. I've finsished sulking now. Whatever the problem is, I just want it sorted and get racing again. That was the whole point of paying a professional to build the car.
I looked at the first shot in that series and thought:

"Scott's taken up drift racing!"

then looked at the rest and thought...

"No, Scott's taken up stunt driving!"
