This is a link to the Castle Coombe trackday page:
www.racecar.co.uk/cc/actiondays.htm

Which has all the prices and stuff on. The club can usually get a discount if enough people want to have a go.

I can't remember if a crash helmet is a requirement, but it almost certainly is.

I think Martin was looking at a Triumph Only day at CC that he was going to organise next year.

In the meantime Adam, Javelin and Motorsport events are good organisers. You could do a day at Keevil which isn't a million miles from you.

As Dave has said, Crash helmet and sleeved top are about the only requirement.

Check out the trackdays section on Pistonheads.com and tentenths.com as there might be some decent last minute deals posted up from time to time.

Sensible decision by the way. Much better way of exploring your cars tyre shredding wheelspin capabilities!
Mad to do a track day in an 1850 - not at all - read my Bodger's Guide to track day preparation for Sprint's and 1850's in the last club mag.
Prices - depends where you go and who runs them - RMA are good days (they quickly throw the hooligan element out) - Brand's is normally the most expensive at up to £500 for the day - £150-£250 is the norm. Insurance, you're right it's not normally covered - unless you insure with Heritage or the like and you get free track day insurance.
X on the back - no - that's racing - and a track day is not racing - most circuits now require you to put an "<-- overtake" sticker on the back (for which ever side they want you to overtake).
Not mad, it`s not all about having the most horses. I raced a mini 850 in grass track when I was younger and that was possibly the slowest thing I ever drove, huge amount of fun though. I have recently started turning my green 1850 in to a track car albeit with a TR7 engine, so i`ll have some interior bits and bobs up for sale soon.
You just missed one at Llandow.

PS. Ben is right, you only have a wally sticker (like me) for racing. After 6 FULL races you can take it off. I've still got 6 to go<img src=

Normally yes, unless its a castle coombe action day where you pay an set amount (about £25) per session (5-7 laps depending on how quick you are!)

As a first track day go for an airfield day like keevil or hullavington held by Motorsport events - about £100 for a full day's unlimited use and hooligan's are dealt with very strictly (I know a couple of hooligans who have had their days cut short!).

Airfields arent as exciting as circuits but if you do lose it your only going to hit traffic cones (although they do get upset for flattening their cones!)

I think Bodgers got deeper pockets than the rest of us! £250 and even £500 for a track day! Getouttahere!!!

Turn up with your car, pay your money, and enjoy! Most good trackdays even offer tuition if you want it. Be prepared to kill your brakes and tyres though.

Adams made the right step - now its time we saw some 1300/1500 owners giving it a go too!

Im just looking in to it at the moment, not going to happen until about december earliest.

On my normal roads (back and fore to college and work etc) I'm running out of the fun that can be had! The old lady at the bus stop that was giving me odd looks as I was in all sorts of shapes on the wrong side of the road kinda made it hit home! The thrills that can be had in a car is equal to no other! The other day on my way to work in the wet coming off a round-a-bout with some back end action in 3rd gear! What a thrill! <img src=

Do you know of any freeware that will allow me to edit an mpeg. I've got a 140mb file that contains the Brands race where that spin happened. I wanted to show the 20 seconds before the spin.
