change gear in that car, there doesn't appear to be gearstick?<br>

I'm pretty sure the homologation rules state that the engine block must be standard. I couldn't find the '74 group 1 rules on the net anywhere though.

I have never heard of a thickwall block as bore wear or weakness etc does not seem to be a problem. What they did make was a chromium iron block which was much stronger, and helped prevent cracks around the main bearing webs. Scott what did they find with your engine re the bearings?<br>

Still a mystery to be honest. A mixture of surge or the intelligent money is on the lack of crank damper. I wasn't using more than 7500rpm but I've heard from someone in the know that 7200rpm is critical on an undamped crank.<br>

I got through the last race with no problem and that was with a new winged sump but then I didn't exceed 6800rpm.<br>
